1975 Ronnie's Reserve, Cask Ref 10619, Speyside, Single Malt Scotch Whisky, 45.5%

Of the remaining casks in the distillery which reflected the unhurried and artisinal approach to the production of single malts in the 70’s most were overpowered by the wood in which they had remained for so long. They were consigned to some lucky Vintages or blended malts.. This one is quite exceptional coming from a re-fill hogshead which take much longer to mature but preserve the character of the distillery so much better. I’ve been nurturing it for many years after deciding when it was 20 years old that it was destined for supremacy!

Appearance: Light gold

Bouquet: Elegant, uplifting and stimulating. Floral notes accompany, honey and licorice initially, then a carpet of gentle well-integrated American Oak wood vanilla and honey.

Palate: Soft, delicate beginnings develop on the palate to reveal the true distillery character with a background of chocolate biscuit and hints of fleeting exotic cooked fruits. 

Finish: Mouth-coating and delicious the length is extraordinary – this fades gently- leaving a floral sweetness to rest on the palate.
