Tasting note

This 50-year-old whisky provided a fitting finale to the Vaults Series. The 339 bottles produced were drawn from a combination of ex-Bourbon and ex-Sherry casks. Floral touches abound here, alongside the trademark exotic fruit in the form of mango and lychee.

The Islay smoke has softened but still makes its presence felt as the nutty, resinous finish gently recedes. This would sit winningly alongside candied nuts and fruits and is a lovely example of 1960s Bowmore – a decade from which this distillery’s output is rightly lauded.
