Tasting note

This is a seldom-seen glimpse into The Macallan’s peated past. Distilled in 1947 and first bottled in 1962, it was rebottled in 2018 as part of the revered Fine & Rare series. Bottled at 45.4% ABV, the release was limited to just 270 bottles. The nose opens with a quiet billow of hearth fire-smoke curling through notes of candied citrus peel, chocolate-dipped orange slices and split vanilla pods.

Beneath this, seasoned oak lends a dry, grounded elegance. The palate strikes a fine balance as crisp apple and mellow pear glide across the tongue, lightly veiled in peat smoke. The finish lingers in low embers, with smoke and fruit slowly fading in tandem.
