Tasting note

First distilled in 1937 and bottled in 1969, this whisky was later rebottled in 2002 as part of The Macallan’s Fine & Rare series. Released at 43% ABV, only 174 bottles were produced. A timeworn elegance suffuses the nose, where baked apple and Calvados intertwine with antique oak, faded rose petals and a wisp of peat smoke.

The palate unfolds with quiet confidence, revealing medlar jelly, orange blossom and quince, all wrapped in a gentle Sherry warmth. A comforting glow follows through the mid-palate, with notes of gingerbread, supple leather and a whisper of beeswax polish. The finish is gossamer-fine yet persistent, offering old orchard fruits, a parchment-like dryness and a final embrace of warming smoke.
