Tasting note

There are just 122 bottles of this blend of 1999 and 2000 single malt Japanese whiskies from the iconic Karuizawa Distillery. I count myself hugely privileged to have enjoyed a sample of this magnificent liquid. From a first-fill Oloroso hogshead, this has enjoyed a period of contemplation in Scotland in an ex-Caol Ila PX cask. It was bottled in 2023 at 56.5% ABV. Dense and figgy notes prevail, with a glorious floral elegance defying the cask's strength. Complex, intense and graceful, this was incredible with both scallops and fillet of beef – and exceptional by itself.
