Tasting note

Part of the hallowed Macallan Red Collection, this whisky spent 50 years resting in seasoned Sherry casks. The result is a spirit of profound maturity and character, bottled at the peak of its maturation. The nose opens with the polished depth of antique oak, evoking old library shelves bathed in soft light and lined with leatherbound tomes. A whisper of cocoa powder follows, joined by macerated black cherries and a gingery warmth that tingles gently at the edges.

On the palate, the mature character of this bottling is immediately evident as richly stewed fruits entwine with nutmeg, clove and a flicker or orange oil. Dark chocolate carries through the mid-palate, imparting a sense of weight and gravitas. The finish is long and harmonious, resonating with notes of aged raisins and crème brûlée.
