Description

Old Pulteney Distillery is known for its rich maritime heritage. Its location in Wick, in Scotland, near the North Sea, has markedly influenced the maturation process. Unique maritime notes can be detected in many of the distillery’s whiskies. Traditional methods, including dunnage warehouses, are employed in the belief that this helps enhance the whisky’s distinctive character. The 25-Year-Old showcases the Old Pulteney team’s expertise in ageing and blending, which helps produce a whisky of deep complexity.

Tasting note

The Old Pulteney has a delightfully complex nose: heather, pine and leather mingle with Turkish delight, toffee and fleshy peaches. On the palate sweet spices like cinnamon are wrapped in caramel, with a big peppery kick before moving to a an intensely salty and nutty note, with hints of dark chocolate - think praline and chocolate coated peanut brittle. A long, matcha infused finish rounds off this highly enjoyable dram.
