High Coast Distillery, 63, Batch 4, Single Malt Whisky, Sweden (63%)

Wonderfully rich and forward nose. Dried orange, caramel and crystalised ginger sit in front of an enticingly smoky core. There is a very charming and unmistakable cherry character peering through also. In the mouth, it is generous; there is a sweet touch to the fruit that balances the warming peat and salted caramel. 

The finish develops remarkably until you have a baked fruit and pastry sensation. The 63% is warming but not overwhelming, the sweetness gives an incredible balance to it, and it goes down remarkably well. Very tasty and certainly a contender for a drop or two of water. This evocative winter warmer should make its way to your sideboard.
