A celebration of Hampshire’s magnificent chalky terroir, Hambledon Vineyard’s Classic Cuvée is a timeless Chardonnay-dominant blend with Pinot Noir and Pinot Meunier. It’s been fermented in steel to retain its fruit purity and site expression before spending a minimum of 35 months ageing on lees, which has added textural complexity, fine effervescence and toasty richness.

White gold in the glass, the nose is filled with notes of white flowers, hedgerow and citrus fruit, and the palate is awash with fresh orchard fruit, ripe apricot and fine patisserie. The finish is firmly chalky and vibrant, capturing Hambledon’s exceptional terroir. Sparkling wine in England goes from strength to strength, and we are confident that Hambledon will prove to be the finest of them all.

Critics reviews

Jancis Robinson MW 16+/20

Darker gold than some. Some hint of autolysis. And some depth, though it finishes with quite marked acidity. The nose is more appealing than the palate. Clean and fresh. A little chewy.

The base wine went through malolactic fermentation with battonage. Yeasty on the nose with citrus blossom, salted nuts and yellow apple. Generous mousse opens up to a full-on palate of brioche, citrus, green fruit acidity and depth of spiced red berries. Satisfying and long. The latest release is based on the 2018 vintage.

Disgorged 16 July 2024. Blend of Chardonnay, Pinot Noir and Pinot Meunier from Hambledon's estate vineyards in Hampshire.

A wine with a golden nose and golden flavours: pear tarte Tatin, tobacco leaves, saffron. Shortbread topped with clementine slices. Hedonistic, lavish, tremendous depth and layers. An inset of nuttiness, almost consumed by the fruit but very much there: pan-toasted hazelnuts and walnuts. Impressive. And VGV. (TC)
