Named after the 17th-century Benedictine monk often credited with "inventing" Champagne, Dom Pérignon became Moët & Chandon’s prestige cuvée following its acquisition from Eugène Mercier. The first release under this legendary label came in 1937—and it has since become synonymous with excellence in vintage Champagne.
Dom Pérignon is always a vintage wine, crafted only in the best years. A rigorous selection process in vineyards and wineries ensures that only the finest grapes are used, typically in a near-equal blend of Chardonnay and Pinot Noir. The result is a Champagne of remarkable balance: youthful bottles offer smooth, creamy fruit with exceptional harmony and weight; with age, the wine evolves to reveal elegant toastiness and a finesse matched by few other Grandes Marques.
In 2014, Dom Pérignon redefined its late-release philosophy, retiring the term “Oenotheque” in favour of Plénitude, a concept that reflects the wine’s evolution through distinct, expressive stages. Each Plénitude marks a “window of opportunity” when the Champagne, aged on its lees, reveals a unique character and complexity.
