Appassionata Estate

Nestled in the breathtaking Chehalem Mountains of Oregon, Appassionata Estate is where passion meets precision. Founded by acclaimed German winemaker Ernst Loosen, the estate channels his decades-long love of Pinot Noir into wines of remarkable depth, finesse, and ageability. With its name inspired by Beethoven’s iconic “Appassionata” Piano Sonata, Appassionata creates wines that sing with character, elegance, and a distinctly Oregonian sense of place.

A vineyard crafted for excellence

Appassionata Estate thrives in the cool-climate Willamette Valley, where volcanic soils and flood-washed hills shape the distinctive terroir. Pinot Noir, Chardonnay, and Sauvignon Blanc are nurtured with meticulous care, then aged for up to ten years in underground barrel caves, ensuring perfect conditions for maturation. Each vineyard block is tended to reflect the site’s individuality, producing wines that express purity of fruit and the subtle complexities of Oregon’s climate.

Winemaking with vision and precision

Under the guidance of winemaker Timothy Malone, formerly of J. Christopher Wines, Appassionata Estate marries German winemaking tradition with Oregon innovation. Ernst Loosen’s philosophy of patience and precision is evident in every bottle, with wines designed for extended ageing. Critics have celebrated this approach, praising vintages such as the 2012 Fortissimo Pinot Noir's concentration, layered red fruits, and luxurious texture—wines that reward immediate enjoyment and long-term cellar investment.
