Cuentaviñas is a fledgling Rioja project from Eduardo Eguren, fifth-generation member of the famous Eguren family who made their reputation with wines such as Sierra Cantabria, Viñedos de Páganos and Teso la Monja. The project was founded in 2018 when Eduardo inherited three special vineyards in his hometown of San Vicente de la Sonsierra. The name is a play on the Spanish word cuentacuentos, meaning storyteller, and reflects Eduardo’s philosophy of being a “vineyard-teller”. Together with his wife, Carlota González, Eduardo restored an 18th-century wine press and cellar in the hamlet of Peciña where the wines are now vinified and matured.
