2022 Chablis, Séchet, 1er Cru, Vincent Dauvissat, Burgundy

Description

The 2022 Chablis Les Séchets 1er Cru tends towards more reduction on the nose, but there is intensity here, with beeswax and light adhesive scents complementing the yellow fruit. The palate is very refined with a keen thread of acidity. A dab of sour lemon keeps this on its toes. A touch of crème brûlée lends some intrigue to the finish with a peppery aftertaste. Lovely.

Critics reviews

Allen Meadows 90-93/100

An airier and mildly cooler nose reflects notes of mineral reduction, white flowers, and the hallmark citrus influences. The sleeker, though not denser, middleweight flavours possess a more refined mouthfeel and more evident minerality that seems to build on the bitter lemon-tinged, dry, and sneaky long finale. Lovely stuff.

The 2022 Chablis 1er Cru Séchet unwinds in the glass with aromas of crisp stone fruits, ripe lemons, white flowers, clear honey and subtle hints of warm spices. Medium to full-bodied, cool and satiny, the vintage has lent this a gracious charm that isn't always typical of young Séchet, but the wine's searingly mineral signature remains front and centre.

Showing a bit more richness at the moment, with wood character coming through. Thin 30cm soils above the limestone bedrock contribute to the finesse. Crisp citrus acidity, very much a thoroughbred but needs time.
