Description
The domaine’s biggest holding, this is well-sited beneath the Chapelot Premier Cru. The soil in this lower part has more clay and limestone. As ever, this is the most complete of the village wines, marrying the weight and density of Boucheran with the finesse and tension of Pargues.

Critics reviews
Paler colour and less to show on the nose as yet. Perhaps some citrus. Beautiful on the palate, though, with energy and clarity and a fine marine finish. There is significant body further back on the palate. I also tasted a mini cuvée of two barrels made from experimental high-trellised vines, which was more austere, with more muscle, firmer but less sensual. This is being followed with detailed analysis and may be bottled separately.

The 2022 Chablis Le Bas de Chapelot underwent partial tressage in the vineyard this year so the Vocorets could compare. They found the fruit ripened earlier with more intense aromas. These will be bottled separately. It has a lovely peachy, nectarine-tinged bouquet that blossoms in the glass. The palate is well-balanced with touches of grapefruit and white peach. It is very elegant and pure, with a touch of spice towards the finish. Simply a mouthwatering prospect - difficult to believe this is not a Premier Cru.
