Description
Fermented in barrel and then aged without racking for a year before being moved to tank before bottling. There is an appealing white pepper spice to the wine, coming both from the oak and the terroir, and this translates into a quartz-like minerality on the finish. The old vines give a surprising degree of dimension to the palate.

Critics reviews
This key cuvée will have been racked in August and bottled in December. Tasted from cask, it has a beautiful, Muscat-like perfume with so much energy. It is very open, opulent, and charming.
Drink 2024 - 2027
The 2022 Mâcon La Roche Vineuse Vieilles Vignes is 100% barrel fermented for 12 months and spends 4-5 months in tank. This is clearly a level up from the regular cuvée with more terroir expression and intensity. The palate is medium-bodied with a rounded, slightly honeyed entry, perhaps missing a little bite on the finish, though it has approachability and charm.

From 65+ year old vines.
This is aromatically similar to the regular cuvée but with slightly more apparent exotic nuances. The old vines show that the mid-palate concentration of the medium-weight flavours is noticeably denser, displaying solid power and persistence in the more complex finale. It’s worth a look.
