2021 Vosne-Romanée, Les Chaumes, 1er Cru, Arnaud Baillot, Burgundy

There is a great depth on the nose – ripe strawberry, cassis, raspberry and spice alongside a certain sweetness which evokes ripe candied cherry (if that exists) – creating a complex fresh bouquet on the nose. Suave on the palate, in addition to the fruit purity, this Chaumes has savoury notes alongside leather and smokiness giving it a great complexity and a long finish. Lovely and a serious step up compared to his straight Vosne Romanee.
