More peach and apricot fruit on the nose and palate. It has enough acidity to keep everything on track but lacks a bit of the focus expected. Certainly a very sunny example of Vaillons. It could well shed some 'puppy fat' after another year and merit a higher score.

Critics reviews

Neal Martin 86/100

The 2021 Chablis Vaillons 1er Cru undergoes 18 months of élevage. It has a creamy vanilla bouquet that doesn't really articulate Chablis, though it is not unattractive. The palate is a bit raw on the entry with sour lemon and a touch of white pepper, but it attenuates in the second half before a slightly undernourished finish.

It is renowned for producing exceptional Chardonnay wines, characterised by Kimmeridgian clay-limestone soils and a southwest-facing aspect, ensuring ample sunlight exposure for optimal grape ripeness. The wines are highly regarded for their elegance, purity, and balance, often displaying enticing aromas of ripe citrus and orchard fruits, complemented by delicate floral notes.
