Description
As the name suggests, this vineyard is well-exposed and sees plenty of sun, but it retains freshness thanks to the limestone soil and a late-ripening rootstock. Olivier says it is superb in 2022 (mark your cards). This year is also rather lovely, with a luxurious creamy edge.

Critics reviews
This is also airy and cool with its combination of green apple, lemon-lime and abundant floral elements. There is fine intensity to the utterly delicious medium-bodied flavours, where the bright citrus-tinged acidity is saliva-inducing on the markedly dry but not really austere finale. This is lovely for its level and worth checking out.
Drink from 2026 onward
The 2021 Saint-Véran Côte-Rôtie, which comes from chalky/limestone soil, is very backwards on the nose, more so than the Le Grand Bussière at the moment. The palate is saline and vibrant on the entry. There's a gentle grip with a very slight note of white mushroom towards the finish. Fine, but give it a few months for the aromatics to awaken.
