Description
This vineyard has a high proportion of the Muscaté variety of Chardonnay, which gives this wine a charming floral nose of rose petals and blood orange. The fruit ripens early here, so it’s picked at the beginning of harvest. The vineyard used to be prone to botrytis but climate change means it almost never happens now. Generous stone-fruit and juicy mandarin notes.

Critics reviews
Here, a vague suggestion of the exotic is present in the aromas of poached pear, white peach and citrus confit. The caressing medium-weight flavours are rich to the point of opulence, while bright citrus-tinged acidity is sufficiently firm to maintain proper balance on the youthfully austere finale.
Drink from 2025 onward
The 2021 Saint-Véran Le Grand Bussière has a strict, shucked oyster shell and sea cave-scented bouquet that conveys commendable precision. The palate is well balanced with tangy orange pith and white pepper notes. The interpolation of Chardonnay Muscaté vines imparts a subtle honeyed/brioche note on the finish. Very fine.
