Description
Matteo shares this vineyard with Angelo Gaja but is the only producer to bottle this site as a Barbaresco cru. The natural amphitheatre of Cavanna performs as highly as many of Barbaresco’s most prolific sites. These 65-year-old vines soak up these mineral details, giving a lifted nose of tea, dried roses and orange zest. The palate is supple, bright and a little savoury: blackberries mixed with clove, blood orange and smoky lavender, all enclosed in sweet sandy tannins.

Matteo Rocca Luigi’s grandson) shares this vineyard with Angelo Gaja but is the only producer to bottle wine from this site, a natural amphitheatre, separately. 65-year-old vines.
Very pale ruby. Sweet and fresh. Very easy to like. Masses of tension and pleasure. And pure Langhe Nebbiolo expression. Quite good value.
Drink 2023 - 2029
Very floral with rose to the fore, slightly smoky and herbal notes of underbrush, forest floor and wild strawberry. There is volume on the palate, relaxing at first, savoury and toasty on the finish, with refreshing acidity and polished tannins, and the typical dusty finale of Nebbiolo. Good wine and good length, if a bit simple on the finish.
