Description

From parcels in Davayé (bought in 2014) and Prissé (’16), this recent addition to the stable has responded well the Lafon viticulture. It gains in tension and precision with each passing year. There is a pleasing marriage of freshness and opulence which results in a complex and expressive wine.

Critics reviews

Allen Meadows 87-90/100

Mostly from Prissé

Riper aromas include those of poached plum, floral and citrus confit scents. The very rich and seductively textured medium-bodied flavours possess a caressing mouthfeel that contrasts somewhat with the bone-dry and linear finish. Even so, I suspect that this will round into form after only a year or two of bottle age.

The 2020 Saint-Véran has a fragrant bouquet with orange blossom, Golden Delicious and light crushed rock aromas. The palate is strict and linear, well balanced and lightly spiced with a nicely poised finish. Drink over the next five years.

This is a wine of impressive balance and length, produced from a number of parcels spread over nearly 2ha in Prissé and Davayé that ripen grapes early, yet the fruit has retained a lively acidity. Fermentation is done in a combination of large oak uprights and neutral demi-muids in order to maintain the purity of fruit, with alcohol kept at a modest for the vintage) 12.5-13%.
