Description

Made in the ancestral method, this Vouvray is a serious, complex and vinous expression that provides a stark contrast to mass-produced sparkling Vouvray. The nose is wonderfully complex with notes of green apple, wet wool, brioche, vanilla pod and cinnamon. The palate is initially generous and creamy, keenly balanced by a bright thread of acidity. The fruit profile is reminiscent of apple crumble, with touches of crushed chalk providing a mouth-watering finish. A delicious and characterful sparkling wine with a fine, elegant mousse.

Vouvray

Based in the Touraine district of the Loire, the 2,000-hectare Vouvray appellation covers a range of dry, through off-dry, sweet to sparkling styles. Its Chenin Blanc vineyards give the wines vibrant acidity and a stony, floral and at times waxy character. Under perfect skies, the producers aim for moelleux sweet wines, hand-harvested by trie, often imbued with noble rot and rich with residual sugar.
