Description

Cellar Plan members can enjoy a 10% saving on this wine, with the discount automatically applied at checkout.

Nuits-St Georges is one of the leading villages in the Côte de Nuits, the northern part of Burgundy’s Côte d’Or. Known for its red wines, the village has no Grands Crus but boasts a range of prestigious Premiers Crus – including Les St Georges, from which the appellation takes part of its name. The reds here are among Burgundy’s more powerful expressions of Pinot Noir, with dark fruit flavours and good structure alongside plenty of silky elegance. For our Own Selection Nuits-St Georges, we’re delighted to work with our friend Benjamin Leroux.

Tasting note

This 2019 vintage is the best yet of our Nuits-St Georges from Benjamin Leroux. The nose is a heady perfume of dark berry fruit, violets and white pepper. The palate is creamy and succulent with a hint of vanilla. The tannins are like crushed velvet. This would be a perfect pairing with spiced lamb or lentil dishes.

About this wine

Gevrey-Chambertin

Gevrey-Chambertin

Gevrey-Chambertin is the largest wine-producing village in Burgundy’s Côte d'Or. Located in the far north of the Côtes de Nuits, the classic style is typically deeper in colour, firmer in body and more tannic in structure than most red Burgundy. While in the past there have been myriad underperformers here, the overall quality is now higher than ever and the best can develop into the most complete and long-lived Pinot Noir in the world.
