Description

Franck describes this as a vin de connoisseur: a wine for someone prepared to wait for a cuvée which, due to its concentration, can be slow to reveal itself. The 2019 has blackcurrant and subtle herbaceous aromas. The palate is fine-boned, pure and mineral, with a black cherry coulis note to finish.

A little deeper in purple than Clos du Chapitre, and as always much punchier on the nose. Power packed with very dense raspberry fruit, then tannins to follow. Needs a rich dish with sauce, otherwise, I would prefer the greater elegance of Clos du Chapitre.

A more deeply pitched nose reveals notes of roasted plum, spice, newly turned earth and an abundance of sauvage character. There is impressive intensity to the delicious and vibrant if not especially dense middle weight flavors that culminate in a complex, rustic and serious finish that is built to repay extended cellaring. This is worth considering provided you have the intention of allowing it to age at least 7 to 8 years first.
