Description

Deliciously refreshing, the trouble and care taken in making this wine are very evident, as is the estate’s valuable chalk base, which lends the Blanc de Blancs that inimitable lick of limestone on tasting. Lip-smacking, yet fruit aplenty, it’s ideal as an aperitif, perhaps with freshly shanked oysters or a wide range of other foods.

Powdery, sweet-edged, elegant, toasty, pretty scents with a softer, more rounded palate than its Wiston peers, though there’s plenty of stony refinement here, too, and a mouthwatering, vinous finish.

The NV Blanc de Blancs has a superb bouquet: vibrant and quite stony with plenty of dew-speckled Granny Smith apples. The palate is very crisp with superb tension, fleet of foot with a brisk, racy citrus-driven finish. What a thrilling, live-wire sparkling Chardonnay from Wiston. You almost crave to sip this by the sea with a huge plate of freshly shucked oysters.
